FAQ

What languages
do you translate?

We translate from French to English and vice versa, as well as from Spanish to French and occasionally vice versa.

What are your rates?

Our rates vary depending on a number of factors including volume, time frame, language(s) and type of text. Translation is generally billed by the word. Revision is usually billed by the hour. When it comes to captioning, rates are by minute of video. Contact us to obtain a quote.

When does your
urgent rate apply?

Any request that must be delivered within 24 hours of us receiving it is subject to our urgent rate. We will let you know when accepting the request. Any request whose time frame would require sacrificing the quality of the delivered product will be refused.

Does a minimum price
apply to small projects?

Yes. Contact us to know our minimum rate.

Do you offer discounted rates for large projects?

Since we consider our rates to be fair and the quality of our work remains the same regardless of the size of a project, we do not offer discounted rates.

How do I obtain a quote?

Simply contact us either using the form on our website or by writing to us at info@traductioncassiopee.com. Please provide details about your request (language(s), type of text, number of words, due date, file type [Word, PDF, PowerPoint, etc.]). If you are able to upload an excerpt of the text, that greatly facilitates the quotation process. Quotes are provided at no charge.

How long does it take to obtain a quote?

On business days, quotes are generally provided within 24 hours so long as all the necessary information has been provided. Rest assured that we maintain the confidentiality of your documents whether or not you choose to work with us.

Are quoted prices fixed?

We try to be as realistic as possible when producing a quote. However, cost overages are possible. In such cases, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Do you do copywriting?

Copywriting is no longer one of our main services. We can, however, make exceptions in some cases. Contact us for more information.

Do you do transcription?

We do transcription only in exceptional circumstances (for example, as part of a large multi-component project).

Do you do interpreting?

No. Translation and interpreting (oral translation) are two entirely different professions. Consult the directory of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) to find a professional in your area.

Can you revise
a machine translation?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. While machine translation is constantly evolving, nothing can replace human reasoning. In many cases, it will cost more to have a machine-translated text corrected than to entrust us with the translation.
If this is the case, we will let you know and offer you solutions.

Can you provide certified translations of official documents?

No, we do not offer this service. Consult the directory of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) to find a professional in your area.

Does Cassiopée work
evenings and weekends?

Usually, no. Cassiopée needs to rest and focus on other areas of life. However, some urgent requests may be accepted outside of regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) depending on our availability,
and in such cases, additional fees apply.

Can I meet you at 255 Brock Street?
